Overflowing Overflow Service
So, there I am, trying to update my life and health policies.

Calling Tower insurance I get their overflow service, and leave a message. Does anyone from Tower call me back? Nope.

So I call again - the overflow service is now overflowing. All the lights are on, but nobody is home.

Eventually I get through to Tower - send a fax - and do I get confirmation. Nope - a week goes by - still nothing.

So I call again - the overflow is overflowing again.

Tower - sort your shit out and get more call centre staff!

And teach your staff to *FOLLOW UP*!!!!!!

Deadly flu virus samples
The stupidity of intelligence.

1957 - Four million people die from a lethal strain of influenza.

1968 - Influenza strain eliminated except in labs

2005 - Proficiency kits containing the lethal strain sent to 5000 labs around the world

Absolute stupidity. Anyone remember the series Survivors back in the 70s?

Death Penalty
I bet Larry Souter is very happy they don't have the death penalty in Michigan!

After serving 13 years for the death of a woman he never killed, there must surely be reasonable doubt about state sanctioned murder?

The fiasco and ridiculous amount of energy put into the issues surrounding Terri Schiavo could have been better spent on repealing the laws in the states that still back the death penalty.

Based on the christian fundementalists not caring that people have quality of life, why not simply have the "criminals" destined for death row lobotomized. After all, as long as they are alive, if they are every found not guilty, they are still "alive".

Isn't it a funny old world we live in.

The Price Of Life
$250,000 for the killing of Michael Schiavo and another $50,000 for the death of Florida state Circuit Court Judge George Greer.

So, a vegetable's life takes priority over a loving husband at his witts end, and a senior judge?

What has American society come to?

How many starving children below the poverty line die every year from malnutrition or lack of medical treatment in the USA? How many?

I want to swear and rant at the stupid ignorance of the people outside the hospice where Terri Schiavo spends her last hours.

Look in your own back yard. There are people who won't see the next winter through. But they are not in your face, so you can ignore them. They are NOT braindead.

Spend as much energy on them as you do on the shell that was Terri Schiavo and you may make a real difference in your sick, disgusting hypocritcal society; the society that you call the land of the free.

Free if you are the right color and can afford an attorney.

AMERICA - GET OFF YOUR FUCK'N HIGH HORSE AND GET REAL!

Civil Action - Community Cancer
Civil Action Law Suits.

What a strange concept to me. I was walking along, I trip on the pavement, fall through a plate glass window, and in the process spill hot coffee on myself.

At that point, I am swamped by three or four attornies.

Anyway - why is it (USA in particular) do people demand personal empowerment, but are not willing to look after themselves. e.g. the civil suit against McDonalds for the bright individual who spilt coffee on themselves then complained about it not warning her it was hot. Duh!

Now, this all leads to situations like what is happening with Wacko Jacko.

If he is found guilty, and to be honest, I actually have no opinion on that, he will be subject to class action law suits from the families involved.

Now, from what I have read, they are pretty much sooner going to steal your wallet than give you a helping hand if you fall over in front of them.

What sort of sum can they expect, tens of millions one would expect. Will it make them ANY different? Doubtful.

So, why give it to them?

What's the alternative?

Well, the family is probably a lost cause. The kid however, may pull himself out of the shit at the bottom of the river and drag himself to higher ground.

Give him a life time of free life coaching, counselling, and tutorship. Give him $100,000 and any other damages go into a trust for his community. Why should it all go to him? People that do that to kids affect the whole community, and can cause a cancer to form - just look at the innocent that was killed in the UK (Innocent man killed as hysteria takes hold)

So, give it to the commuity, help educate and empower those that need it most. The individual victim will still get help, but the money itself wont help them.

What say you my avid readers?

Schiavo
The question I would ask myself is : - if it was my wife, and she no longer had enjoyment or quality of life, what would I do?

Is being hooked up to a machine, being unable to communicate, unable to interact with what is around her, enjoyable or quality life?

Some say she smiles, so do new born babies - usually because they have gas. Some say she tries to communicate. Who really knows? Me? Certainly not. The experts? Much more likely.

Can I give her life back? No.

Should this be a political issue? No.

Should this be a public moral issue? No.

Should anyone but her immediate family, including her husband have any involvement? No.

Death is inevitable. She may still have something left for this world, but who knows what it is. Not me, not you, and as I am a Taoist, I don't think "god" does either.

Let her die with dignity. Let the family get on with their life. Does Michael Schiavo have a secret agenda? Everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt. His motives may be honorable, until he proves otherwise, how dare we judge him.

I just ask that I never be put into the position of having to make a similar decision or that any of my loved ones have to do the same for me.

Joel over at JoelComm.Com has a different take.

Freedom To Blog
"Internet bloggers should enjoy traditional press freedoms"

Thats the concensus of lawmakers and journalists.

Can you imagine what could happen if your blog was deemed to be inappropriate by the current political entity that rules where you live today?

Let's say you live in USA, raise your voice about the occupation of Iraq, and then a government lacky gets you arrested for treason, insurrection or something equally ridiculous. I know thats an extreme, but is it so far fetched?

Check out the full story at Reuters

I for one never want my voice restricted just because someone else doesn't like what I am saying.

On Midwives, Public Health and Nappies
Last night was the first night with my new family all together at home. Can I just say to all you blokes who are unsure about having a kiddy, or whether you can cope with the nappies, sleep deprivation and constant feeding. Get over it. It has to be the one of the most wonderful experiences I have ever had, the first night at home. Absolutely fabulous.

Now, nappies - what a choice. We are using newborn disposables, cloth was just not something I felt I could handle, and we want to get these excellent (highly recommended by busy parents) reusables called Fuzzibunz. We were also told about an excellent online shop to get all sorts of baby stuff. Baby Online has everything, and their pricing seems pretty good.

Last but not least, I would like to openly thank our midwife Stephanie, she was an absolute god-send. I could think of no other person I would want at another birth. Let us not forget the wonderful people and facilities at Birthcare in Parnell. Their consistentcy and empathy made the transition into parenthood far less stressful and concerning than I think it would have been.

All in all - top marks to all concerned!

Man-Tits; to Bra or not to Bra..
Man-Tits, the domain of old men and crusty drunks?

'fraid Not.

It starts about 25 - if you are a drinker, don't work out at the gym and basically live a sedentary life.

Is it the curse of the modern life?

I say it it more the curse of the convenient life. Kings of old would have had everything supplied, and except in times of war I suspect they would have had Man-Tits.

Check back to Space 1999, Logan's Run or other similar television series and sure enough - Man-Tits.

Now, with Obesity such a problem in the modern world, I suspect there is also an epidemic of Man-Tits. Could this be an opportunity? Men love bras, or at least the removal of. Could this be an opportunity? The Man-Tit bra? Perhaps not. Who am I kidding. Men still haven't got the knack of putting the toilet seat down.

So what are we to do? I found yoga helped. And a good nutritious diet (Herbalife, thank you - more energy, more sex, less Man-Tits, by the way - drop me a note if you want to try it for yourself)

Will the Man-Tit bra take off? Doubt it? Will men get rid of their mams? Nope.

I would be interested in the female perspective on this...
